Craps: Controlled Shooter Come-Out Strategy

Most Controlled Shooters should use their primary dice set on the come-out roll and focus on establishing a point number that corresponds to their signature numbers. This is the safest way to utilize your dice control skills and maintains the discipline and integrity of flipping the odds on those bets with the lowest house edge.

For the experienced and more skilled Controlled Shooters, the come-out roll offers another opportunity to amass significant winnings at the casino. Depending on your skill level, the come-out roll can be even more financially advantageous than hitting points after the come-out.

Since you’ll be targeting proposition bets that carry an extremely high house edge (casino advantage), you should only attempt this if you’re able to keep the dice on-axis the majority of time.

(I only use this strategy when my controlled tosses are on-point and I’ve reached at least 50% of my win goal for the session.)

There are 3 components to the Come-Out strategy;

  • Dice-Set that capitalizes on craps numbers and the seven
  • Betting Strategy specifically designed for the come-out
  • Positive progression betting strategy to escalate your winnings

DICE SETS FOR THE COME-OUT

There are 3 dice sets that we recommend for the come-out strategy. The one you use will be dependent on your own skill set, the faces you normally pitch, if any, and the outcomes you experience during your practice sessions.

The 3 Come-Out Dice Sets are;

  • 6/5 – 5/6 Set – This is my personal favorite and have had a lot of success with this set.
  • 6/5 – 6/5 Set – Great for targeting the 2 & 12 with a $30 payout
  • 6/1 – 1/6 Set – Also called the ‘All Sevens’ set for targeting a PL win on the come-out

All three sets are similar, in that they eliminate the 3 and 4 from showing on either die when thrown on-axis. This reduces the number of possible results down to 16 from the original 36 and dramatically changes the odds of the remaining outcomes.

Also, by eliminating the 3 and 4 from the possible on-axis results, the remaining outcomes heavily favor both the seven and the craps numbers (2, 3, 11, 12).

Let’s take a look at the standard probabilities of the dice as compared with the probabilities when removing the 3 and 4 from the potential outcomes.

Come Out Probability

As you can see, the probability of the on-axis results of these dice sets favor the 7 (25.00% vs. 16.67%) and the craps numbers 2 & 12 (6.25% vs. 2.78%) and 3 & 11 (12.50% vs. 5.56%).

Taken together, you have 10 out of 16 possible ways to toss a 7 or a craps number. That’s a whopping 62.5% chance of a winning toss if you keep the dice on-axis.

Combined with the right betting strategy and progression, these dice sets can be lethal to the casino on your come-out rolls.

COME-OUT BETTING STRATEGY

The best way to take advantage of these dice sets on the come-out, is with the following betting strategy. (Example uses a $10 minimum table)

  • Place $10 on the Pass Line
    • 7 or 11 you win, 2, 3, or 12 you lose, any other number becomes the point
  • Place a $10 Whirl (World) Bet
    • A Whirl bet is a 5-part bet placing equal amounts on the 2, 3, 11, 12 and Any Seven. A $10 Whirl bet would place $2 on each.
    • 2 or 12 you win (30 to 1). $10 Whirl payout is $60
    • 3 or 11 you win (15 to 1). $10 Whirl payout is $30
    • 7 you win (4 to 1). $10 Whirl payout is $8 (Pays to push on the Whirl bet)
  • Bet on MYB

Let’s take a closer look at how this works.

  • Roll a (7)
    • Pass Line wins $10
    • Any 7 wins $8
    • 2, 3, 11, 12 lose $2 each
      • Net win $10 ($8 A
      •

      • ny Seven replaces the 2, 3, 11 & 12
  • Roll an (11)
    • Pass Line wins $10
    • (11) pays $30 (net $22 after replacing the 2, 3, 12 and Any Seven
      • Net win $32 ($22 plus $10 PL)
  • Roll a (2) or (12)
    • Pass Line loses $10
    • (2) & (12) pay $60 (net $52 after replacing the remaining Whirl bet)
      • Net win $42 ($52 minus $10 PL)
  • Roll a (3)
    • Pass Line loses $10

    • (3) pays $30 (net $22 after replacing the remaining Whirl bet)
      • Net win $12 ($22 Whirl minus $10 PL)
    • (At times, I’ll add a $1 bet on the Ace-Deuce to lift this to a $25 win)

COME-OUT POSITIVE PROGRESSION

If you’re confident enough in your skill level to hit 3 or 4 of these before hitting a point-number, using a positive progression in your betting is where you can amass significant winnings from the casino.

You can use any progression y

ou’re comfortable with from conservative to parlaying your winnings, but for our example, we’re going to use a conservative progression on your winnings.

  • Roll a (7) – Net Win $10 ($10 PL, Whirl is a push)
    • NO PROGRESSION – Leave the $10 PL and $10 Whirl as is
  • Roll a (3) – Net win $12 ($22 Whirl minus $10 PL loss)
    • NO PROGRESSION – Leave the $10 PL and $10 Whirl as is
  • Roll an (11) – Net win $32 ($10 PL plus $22 Whirl)
    • PRESS WHIRL BET BY $10
  • Roll a (2) or (12) – Net win $42 ($52 Whirl minus $10 PL loss)
    • PRESS WHIRL BET BY $20

You can take down your whirl bet

at any time, so you may want to consider that in advance based on the confidence you have in your controlled shooting skill.

When your toss is zoned in, it’s not uncommon to hit 6 or 7 of these before establishing a point number. The norm is between 2 and 3 before establishing the point, so keep that in mind as your progressing your bets.

Remember that the house edge (casino advantage) on the proposition side of these bets is high, so practice at home before using this method at the casino, but get ready to have a giant smile on your face when you get this

 working!
