Supplies

CRAPS SUPPLIES FOR YOUR HOME PRACTICE SET-UP

Your home practice set will include both a landing station and a launch station and the necessary items for each. You’re going to need an area that is about 3 feet wide and 8 to 10 feet long to set up your stations.

At the end, you’ll see some items that are optional, but helpful, and will be listed as such.

CASINO DICE

Grade AAA 19mm Casino Dice

Casino Dice square

You’ll need at least 2 sets of 19mm Casino Dice with razor edges. This is the same type dice that is used at the craps tables in the casinos. (Do not use dice with rounded edges)

Select 2 different and contrasting colors and buy at least one sleeve of each. They come in sets of 5 wrapped in foil the same as the casinos.

The need for 2 different colors is to identify the left and right die in your tracking and in any adjustments you need to make in your toss.

I use red and green, but feel free to pick your own favorite colors. Click here.

LANDING STATION

To perfect your controlled toss and track and analyze your results, you need to mimic the action of the dice on a craps table. To do that, you’ll need to buy or build (if you’re handy) a practice landing table complete with felt bottom and rubber diamonds on the back. You’ll want one that is as large as you can afford. (preferably 24 inches wide).

Practice Craps Table – Buy

Craps Practice TableIf you’re going to purchase a practice table, there a number available at Amazon. The one listed here is one of the wider ones available and includes both the bottom felt and the back diamond rubber grid like the casinos. Click here.

Practice Craps Table – Build

If you’re handy, you can build your own practice table. We recommend it’s 24 inches wide, 18 to 24 inches deep, and 12 inches high. (Most home centers will pre-cut the wood for you to make it easier). You’ll also need the following items.

rubber diamonds

Craps Diamond Pyramid Bumper Rubber

Usually comes in 48 inch lengths (11 inches tall) and is used for the back and sides of your practice table.

The one listed is the same one I use, is high quality and mimics the action of casino craps tables. Click here.

casino felt

Plain Green Casino Felt

When the dice hit your practice table, you want them to react the same way they would at the casino. Line the bottom of your practice table with plain green casino felt.

You’ll want padding below the felt. Use a couple layers of flannel below the casino felt. Click here.

3 foot folding table

Square Folding Table (28 to 30 inches tall)

The bed of most craps tables are 28 to 30 inches off the floor. If you don’t have something of that height to house your practice box, a folding table works just fine. This one is 29 inches tall.

LAUNCH STATION

Once you reach the point in your development where creating a live-like simulation in your practice sessions, you’ll need the tools to replicate a betting environment including placing bets and collecting winnings between rolls. You’ll also need these tools to experiment with different betting strategies matched to your skill set.

craps table layout felt

Craps Table Layout Felt

This is one of the more popular layout felts available for practice set ups.  It’s rubber backed to avoid slipping and does not need to be glued or installed on your table. Click here.

On off puck

Craps On Off Puck

You can use something other than an official on/off puck, but for me, the closer you can get to a casino environment the better,

For an official craps on/off puck click here.

Casino Chips

Poker Chips

This is one of the most popular sets of chips on Amazon today. They have the feel of real clay chips, include plenty of white, red, green and black chips, and there’s more than enough chips to support your strategy practice sessions.  Click here.

6 foot folding table

6 Foot Folding Table

You’ll need a table to use as your launch station and to set up your table felt and establish a live-like casino setting. We recommend using a 6 foot table like the one pictured, but if space is tight, a 4 foot table will work as well. Click here.

Now you should have everything you need to develop and perfect your controlled shooting skills at home, before putting real money at risk in the casino.

OPTIONAL BUT HELPFUL

What follows are some items that would helpful to you, but not absolutely necessary for your practice sessions.

rattan dice stick

Rattan Dice Stick

The same one used in many casinos, this rattan dice stick is helpful in pulling the dice back to you or off your landing platform without needing to walk back and forth after each roll. Click here.

Tossing Window

Adjustable Dice Control Tossing Window

This tossing window is used to hone in your launch angle and height of your toss.

Height adjustable from 8 to 20 inches, this can be used for any tossing style.

Practice rail

Portable Craps Practice Rail

Fully portable with no need to mount, this practice rail is height proportionate to casino craps tables.

Helpful in creating a realistic setting and practicing your stance and bracing style.

dice boat

Acrylic Dice Boat

Like used at craps tables in the casinos, the dice boat is used to house the dice that are not being currently used.

This one is made of acrylic. Wood/Plastic models are available as well. Click here.

As mentioned, the list above includes all those items necessary to create an effective home practice set-up to develop and perfect your controlled toss skills and flip the odds on the casinos.
