Let me also congratulate you on being one of the few that take the time and initiative to learn and improve your skills in the game.
This step alone, puts you ahead of most craps players you’ll meet at the tables in virtually any casino.
While there is some overlap, the strategies that should be employed for the novice player are very different than those of an intermediate or advanced player. The sections and posts on this site are designed to give you what you need, when you need it and develop your skills to the next level.
Hopefully, you’ll continue your craps journey through to becoming an advanced player and enjoy the game of craps for years to come.
At this point in your journey, here’s what you should be focused on.
- Learning all you can about the game itself
- How to play, the different bets, house edge on each bet, language of the game, probability of outcomes, etc. so that you can develop winning strategies that work consistently versus counting on luck alone.
- Getting as much playing time as possible to experience the ebb and flows and learn to discipline yourself within the game
- For some, actual casino time might be difficult. If that’s you, there are plenty of free craps sites online to practice (keep in mind, online games utilize RNGs (Random Number Generators), but it will still give you experience on betting and payouts.)
- Keep your bet amounts to a minimum
- Your goal is to stay at the table as long as possible learning the game.
- You might get lucky, or run into a hot roll, but right now just learn the game.
- Look for low minimum bet tables that aren’t too crowded so you can take your time and ask a lot of questions. (The dealers are more than willing to help)
